Queensland to conduct 12-month trial of hybrid buses to cut emissions

Buses and coaches are already a green move and yet, the government of Queensland, Australia, is spending $1.4million on a 12-month trial of two diesel-electric hybrid buses in Cairns, starting later this year. "These buses could make a serious difference," says Queensland’s transport minister Rachel Nolan. "They could cut emissions by up to 40 per cent over a traditional bus, if US trial results are achieved here in Queensland."

According to the American Union of Concerned Scientists, when travelling by bus or coach, your carbon footprint is the smallest of all transport modes. Further to the use of innovative technology in lowering emissions, it is also important to change the current mindset, and encourage people to travel collectively by bus and coach to help reduce our negative impact on the environment considerably.
